My Church Family,

God has called me to serve in the ongoing relief efforts following the recent hurricanes. St. Mary’s is helping sponsor me on a Mission to Mississippi. I will be volunteering with "Camp Coast Care", a relief and supply operation under the direction of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi and Lutheran Episcopal Services in Mississippi. I will be staying in a tent on the grounds of Coast Episcopal School 5065 Espy Ave. Long Beach, MS 39560. I am not sure there is ground mail service available at this time so I will stay in contact with my husband David over the phone and he will update the Church about the ongoing situation. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you when I return. Thus far this experience has been one not only of service and prayer for those in need, but also of stewardship. The generosity of the Eugene Episcopal community has raised over $1000 to support my presence in the Gulf. This money will be spent on travel fares, equipment and other necessities. Without the help of this community such a mission could not take place.

Yours in Christ, Angel L. Scott

Greetings and Peace

I miss you all. I am having a lot of fun doing all kinds of new things. I have been to Bay St. Louis to do some tree removal work. I have hooked-up with some folks from Minnesota. I wonder if they know Ted since he is from there. The Priest's name is Andrew. Trinity is the name of the Church. The material devastation is great and relief will go on for years I am sure. I do my part and others do their part. It all makes a difference in the daily life of many individuals. More work today. Community is a blessing; lots of my friends are leaving. I eat well, work hard and sweat more than I could have imagined. Know that I am well and feel the presence of God's Kingdom. The sense of hope seems to out weigh the sense of despair most of the time. Please let everyone know what is going on here. I wish I could describe what is going on but it is all too overwhelming for words. Pictures on tv are no comparison either.

Much love, Angel
