2014 Holy Week and Easter Schedule
8:00 AM Holy Eucharist (Rite I): A quieter and more traditional service using the majestic and poetic language and cadences of Elizabethan English, including words like thee, thy, and thou. We do have music at this service.
Also on Sundays...
9:30 AM Holy Eucharist (Rite II and Enriching Our Worship): Often described as the Family Service, the 9:30 service is an intergenerational service that makes a special effort to welcome and include children and youth. Some things you will notice that are a bit unique at this service include: children and youth being invited forward to stand at the altar during the Eucharistic Prayer and a slightly different service order with the children and youth going to Sunday School during the recessional hymn while the adults stay to listen to the sermon. We have two choirs for children - Joyful Noises (grades 1-6) and The Cherub Choir (pre-k and kindergarten) - along with a youth band (grades 7-12). These musical groups regularly participate at the 9:30 service.
11:00 AM Holy Eucharist (Rite II): Worship at the 11 AM has a dignified solemnity. The adult choir sings at this service during most of the year. We use incense during part of the year. Some refer to this as the “smells and bells” service.
1:30 PM Spanish-language Eucharist (Rite II): At the Spanish language service, we celebrate the Eucharist every week in the primary language of many of our members. We make a special effort at this service to welcome children. After the opening hymn and prayers, the children hear a children's story, and then they go to Sunday School for music and crafts, returning for the Peace. During the Eucharistic Prayer, the children join us around the altar.
Nursery care is available 9:15-11:00 AM.
Coffee Hour is in the Guild Room following each morning service.
Summer Sunday School! All children pre-K through fifth grade are invited to meet in the Samaria classroom at the beginning of the church service for a combined Sunday School class.Children will join their family in time for the summer Bible story and Communion. If you are new to St. Mary's, an usher or minister can help you find the Samaria classroom. Just ask!
