The Dove is a visual shorthand symbol of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Robert Pfifer, a Eugene orthopedic surgeon and member of St. Mary's, carved the dove which hovers above the altar. It is a reminder that the Holy Spirit is always present at St. Mary's.
